Tacoma School District  has 21 Licensed Occupational Therapist and 5 licensed Occupational Therapy assistants serving all school sites within the district.   

 

MISSION STATEMENT

 

We are licensed professionals who serve students with challenges that interfere with their ability to function within the educational setting.  Our training and background in child development, psychology, clinical observations, activity analysis, neuro/kinesiology and problem solving allows us to assess and support students with needs in the areas of:  sensory motor, fine motor, perceptual motor, and functional life skills.  Our skills allow us to meet the needs of a complex changing population by focusing on curriculum and collaborating with the educational team for specific skill development, modifications and adaptations that promote student participation and independence within the school environment.  Our ultimate goal is to support students to maximize their functional participation in the community through a holistic approach.
